Arthur Arbesser

"Turning the domestic into soulful inspiration, finding comfort in proximity, being creative using the resources at hand—that’s what appeals to Arbesser"

At Arthur's studio for the SS 2023 collection, a ready-made approach was taken for the accessories and garments. The found object became an exploration of which sustainability and domestic surroundings dialogue into designs with a hand-made feel as an artist's atelier. In the research previous to the collection, there was a constant reference to artworks from the Flemish and Italian renaissance, a period in which the everyday became a subject for the artist.

Made from scraps, this layered dress uses a cotton poplin base and an organza layer on top to trap the fabric pieces. The first samples brought a landscape-like abstraction, from which the composition developed further

Driftwood parts found on a summer afternoon on lake Como, hybridize with Swarovski crystals and beads into jewelry-like objects. Between sculptures and ornamental objects, conjunction, metamorphosis, and change inspired the project.

Red Flemish turbants and English berets from the early 20th century took the central interest o the research.

Multidisciplinary designer based in Italy with a focus on fashion and textiles.

As a designer, I'm fascinated by the objects in my everyday life. I observe everything around me—the domestic, the street, and my wardrobe. My goal is to design unique garments that reveal the intertwined memories of each passing day. To achieve this, I surround myself with physical and symbolic materials, creating an archive for exploring time and memory. Immersed in this intimate bubble, I utilize various techniques like photography, weaving, and graphic arts. Through this process, I propose collections that capture forgotten epochs and life experiences, bringing them to light.
